Wart, Skin Tag & Mole Removal in Salem

Electrosurgery and electrofulguration are precise ways to remove small skin growths, usually in a single short visit under local anaesthesia.

What can be removed

  • Skin tags on the neck, underarms, eyelids and groin.
  • Warts: common warts, flat warts, plantar warts on the soles, and warts around the nails.
  • Dermatosis papulosa nigra (DPN): small dark bumps on the face and neck, very common in Indian skin.
  • Moles, after examination to confirm they are harmless.
  • Seborrhoeic keratoses: raised, waxy brown growths that appear with age.
  • Milia, syringomas and other small benign bumps.

What are electrosurgery and electrofulguration?

Electrosurgery uses a high-frequency electrical current delivered through a fine tip to precisely remove or destroy unwanted tissue. The heat seals tiny blood vessels at the same time, so there is very little bleeding.

Electrofulguration is a gentler form in which fine sparks are applied just above the skin surface. It is ideal for very superficial growths such as small skin tags and DPN.

What to expect

  1. Examination. Dr. Kiruthika confirms what each growth is. Anything unusual is assessed first and may need a biopsy.
  2. Numbing. A numbing cream or local anaesthetic injection is used.
  3. Procedure. Each growth takes a few seconds to a few minutes to remove.
  4. Healing. Small scabs form and fall off on their own in about 7 to 10 days.

Aftercare

  • Keep the area clean and apply the ointment prescribed.
  • Do not pick at the scabs.
  • Use sunscreen on treated areas to reduce darkening.
  • You can usually return to normal activities the same day.

Safety first

Not every growth should simply be burnt off. A mole that is changing in size, shape or colour, has irregular edges, itches or bleeds should be examined by a dermatologist, and sometimes tested, before any treatment. This is why every removal at Skintillate starts with a proper examination.

Why choose Skintillate

Dermatologic surgery is a special interest of Dr. Kiruthika, whose research in this area has received medals at national conferences. Procedures are done in our dedicated procedure room.

Frequently asked questions

Is the procedure painful?

The area is numbed with a cream or a small local anaesthetic injection first, so most people feel little more than a pinprick and slight warmth during the procedure.

Will it leave a scar?

Most small growths leave a pink or slightly dark mark that fades over a few weeks to months. Larger or deeper lesions can leave a small scar. Sun protection while healing helps marks fade.

Can warts come back?

Warts are caused by a virus, so new warts can appear, and some need more than one session. Treating them early, before they spread, gives the best results.

Can many skin tags be removed at once?

Yes, several skin tags or DPN spots can usually be removed in one sitting. Dr. Kiruthika will advise how many can be treated comfortably in a single visit.

Can it be done on the same day as my consultation?

Often, yes. After examining the growths, small procedures can usually be done during the same visit if time allows. Moles that look unusual may need a biopsy first.
