- Back, chest and abdomen
- Bikini line
- Beard shaping and neckline for men, including treatment of razor bumps
How the diode laser works
The laser light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and turned into heat, which damages the hair follicle and reduces its ability to grow new hair. The surrounding skin is protected by built-in cooling.
Laser works best on dark, coarse hair. White, grey, red and very fine light hair contains little pigment and responds poorly.
Why you need several sessions
Hair grows in cycles, and the laser only affects hairs that are actively growing at the time of treatment. Most people need 6 to 8 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, to treat each hair during its growth phase. The face sometimes needs sessions at shorter intervals.
Why see a dermatologist
Excess facial or body hair in women can be a sign of a hormonal condition such as PCOS. Dr. Kiruthika looks for and treats underlying causes as part of your plan, which gives better and longer-lasting results than laser alone. Laser settings are also adjusted to your skin to avoid burns and pigment changes.
Before and after your session
Before
- Shave the area the day before your session.
- Stop waxing, threading and plucking for 4 weeks before.
- Avoid sun tanning and bleaching for 2 weeks before.
After
- Mild redness and small bumps around the hairs usually settle within a few hours.
- Use sunscreen and avoid direct sun on treated areas.
- Treated hairs shed over 1 to 3 weeks.
Why choose Skintillate

Frequently asked questions
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal gives long-term hair reduction rather than guaranteed permanent removal. Most people see a marked reduction after a full course, and any hair that grows back is usually finer and lighter. Occasional maintenance sessions help keep results.
Does it hurt?
Most people feel a quick snapping or warm sensation. The diode laser has built-in cooling, and sensitive areas such as the upper lip can be numbed beforehand.
Is it safe for dark skin?
Yes. The diode laser can be used safely on Indian skin when the settings are adjusted to your skin type. Avoiding sun tanning before and after sessions further reduces the risk of side effects.
Can I have laser hair removal if I have PCOS?
Yes, and it often helps. Women with PCOS may need a few more sessions and occasional maintenance, and treating the hormonal cause alongside laser gives better long-term results.
Can I shave between sessions?
Yes, shaving or trimming is fine. Avoid waxing, threading, plucking and hair-removal creams, because they remove the hair root that the laser needs to target.
