Laser Skin Treatments in Salem
Lasers treat scars, uneven skin texture and unwanted hair with precision. Results depend as much on choosing the right laser and settings for your skin as on the machine itself, which is why every laser treatment here is planned by a dermatologist.
Laser treatments
| Laser | What it treats | Typical course |
|---|---|---|
| Fractional CO₂ | Acne scars, chickenpox and surgical scars, open pores, fine lines, uneven texture, stretch marks | 3 to 5 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart |
| Diode | Laser hair removal for the face and body | 6 to 8 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart |
Fractional CO₂ laser
The laser creates microscopic columns of treatment in the skin, leaving the surrounding skin intact to speed healing. This stimulates new collagen, gradually smoothing scars and improving texture. See also acne scar treatment.
Diode laser
The diode laser targets the pigment in hair follicles to reduce hair growth over a course of sessions. Read more about laser hair removal.
Laser safety in Indian skin
Indian skin contains more melanin, which makes it more likely to darken or lighten after laser if the settings are not right. To keep treatment safe:
- Your skin type and condition are assessed before any laser treatment.
- Settings are chosen for your skin, and a test patch is done where needed.
- You will be asked to avoid tanning and to use sunscreen before and after sessions.
- Some medicines, such as isotretinoin, may need to be paused before certain lasers.
What to expect at a session
- Your skin is cleansed. A numbing cream is applied for some treatments.
- You and the operator wear protective eyewear.
- The laser session usually takes 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the area.
- A soothing cream and sunscreen are applied afterwards, and you are given aftercare instructions.

Frequently asked questions
Is laser treatment painful?
Most people describe a snapping or warm, prickling feeling. A numbing cream is applied before more intense treatments such as fractional CO₂, and cooling is used during laser hair removal.
Is laser safe for dark or Indian skin?
Yes, with the right choice of laser and carefully adjusted settings. Darker skin is more prone to temporary darkening or lightening after laser, so we start gently, test where needed and insist on sun protection before and after treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
Most laser treatments need a course of sessions. As a guide, scars usually need 3 to 5 sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart, and hair removal 6 to 8 sessions. Your plan is tailored after your consultation.
Is there any downtime?
Laser hair removal usually involves only mild redness for a few hours. Fractional CO₂ laser causes redness, swelling and fine crusting for about 3 to 7 days.
